Gilgandra Local Aboriginal Medical Service, otherwise known by its acronym ‘GLAMS’, was officially opened 22nd May 2022 as an extension of services of Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service.
Gilgandra Local Aboriginal Medical Service hours are Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm, except public holidays. We offer 15-30-minute appointments and are a bulk billing service.
Gilgandra, located in Central West of New South Wales, Australia. It sits at the junction of the Newell, Oxley, and Castlereagh highways, and is located on a wide bend of the Castlereagh River, the ‘long water hole’. It is 432 km north-west of Sydney (about six hours’ driving time) and is located approximately halfway on the inland route from Melbourne to Brisbane.
Gilgandra is a Wiradjuri word for ‘long water hole’ and is known as being a meeting place between the Wiradjuri, Gamilaraay & Wailwan nations.
